This charming comedy combines endearing characters with generous helpings of deadpan humour. It tells the story of Ricky Baker, a 13-year-old delinquent in New Zealand, who ventures into the wilderness to avoid juvenile detention. He is tracked down by his foster uncle, Hector, a grumpy, taciturn mountain man who knows how to survive in the bush. The two of them are forced to become fugitives, as Ricky's disappearance causes a national manhunt. As they try to stay one step ahead of the authorities, they form a delightful double act, creating a mismatched duo who are utterly joyous to watch. Don’t miss it.

Tickets £5 at the door. Cert 12A.

'A Monster Calls' deftly balances dark themes and fantastical elements to deliver an engrossing and uncommonly affecting and poignant film.

This is a visually breathtaking film with an emotional punch that is eventually uplifting and heartwarming; the story will linger and stay with you.

A wise and compassionate film not to be missed.

Gertrude Lowthian Bell, sometimes called 'the female Lawrence of Arabia', was a British adventurer, archaeologist and political power-house. Recruited by the British Military Intelligence after World War I, she played a significant role in British imperial policy-making in the Middle East, notably Iraq.

Voiced and executive-produced by Tilda Swinton, the film chronicles Bell’s journey into the uncharted Arabian desert and all-male halls of colonial power with never-seen-before archival footage of the region shot a century ago. The film takes us into a past that is eerily current.

Tickets: £5 on the door. Cert PG.
