About Seaford

The town of Seaford is a beautiful seaside resort in East Sussex, U.K. It is located on the foot of the South Downs, a range of hills stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne. It is a great place to have a break and is very convenient as a stop off point when travelling to the continent due to the Ferry Terminal only 4 miles away in Newhaven with a direct link to Dieppe. For many, the main attraction in Seaford is the beach. This has an obvious attraction in the summer, when the sea reaches temperatures up to 20 degrees Celsius. But the sea is equally attractive in the winter. The town has a shopping centre, with enough shops to spend a good afternoon looking around.

History

Seaford is a coastal town in the county of East Sussex, England, on the south coast, east of Newhaven, Brighton and west of Eastbourne. It has a population of about 22,000.

Seaford has been twinned with the town of Bonningstedt, Germany, since 1986. Seaford boasts the westernmost of the South Coast Martello Towers, now a local history museum. This is the best place to get to know the history of Seaford. The picturesque villages of Alfriston and East Dean are close by and are well worth a visit. Drusillas Zoo Park and Michelham Priory are easily accessible from Seaford. Other places of interest include the Seven Sisters County Park, Cuckmere Haven, Seven Sisters Sheep Centre, and Newhaven Fort. The Beach

Seaford Seafront Prominade stretches for over one and a half miles from Splash Point at the base of Seaford Head Cliffs to the Buckle and is a popular area with walkers, joggers, dog walkers old and young alike. There is ample FREE parking along the seafront with easy access to the prominade for the disabled. The beach is mainly shingle and whilst dogs are welcome on our beach, we do request that owners clear up after their pets and there are ample dog bins along the whole promenade. There is, however, a dog ban on the beach from May to September each year.. There are two vending kiosks where strollers can find refreshements and there is usually an Ice Cream van at the beginning of Bonningstedt Parade.

Entertainment & Nightlife

Seaford doesn't have a cinema as such, however, the Downs Leisure Centre does have a cinema programme running throughout the year and details can be obtained by contacting the Downs Leisure Centre , or by picking up a programme leaflet from the Town Council Offices or the Tourist Information Centre. The Downs Leisure Centre also runs various activities for children of all ages during the school holidays. Again, information can be obtained from the Town Council or the Tourist Information Centre. For theatre lovers there is the Seaford Little Theatre which has productions on thoughout the year, and the Barn, which offers more musical theatre. A few of the local pubs also have live bands like the Monkeys (local favourites) and a few tribute bands. The Shore offers Karaoke on a Thursday night, whether you are testing out your vocals or just part of the audience it is worth dropping in as there is some really great undiscovered talent in Seaford.

Seaford may not seem at first like it has the hot dance spots or banging bass lines to warrant itself as a town with nightlife but you would be surprised. Seaford has a total of 11 pubs which caters for every taste. The Shore and the V Bar are late night bars with great drinks menus and DJS to satisfy those dancing feet. For the true clubber, life will never feel complete until a trip to the Trek. The Trek Club is the only club in Seaford and therefore can be a little busy but with its great location (centre of all the pubs) and unique vibe it is not to be missed!
