THE CLINIC:
Southdown Physiotherapy Clinic is a well established practice in the centre of town. All the latest equipment is available such as ultrasound, interferential, TENS & muscle stimulation.

Physiotherapy is the established alternative for treatment of physical problems
WHY A CHARTERED PHYSIOTHERAPIST:
Chartered Physiotherapists undergo extensive training to degree level and are bound by the rules of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. Only Chartered Physiotherapists can be State Registered.
DO I HAVE TO BE REFERRED BY A DOCTOR:
NO - Because of the strong links with the Health Service many assume that the only route to a physiotherapist is via a doctor. This is not the case
You can go to a private physiotherapist with or without a referral
HOW DO PHYSIOTHERAPISTS TREAT:
A wide variety of techniques are used such as mobilisation, exercise, electrotherapy, traction, and taping. The aim of the treatment is to ensure that the patient recovers as quickly as possible and to prevent recurrence. Physiotherapists excel at giving advice ad information on home exercises, posture and seating etc. This ensures that the patient is able to prevent further injury and does not become dependant on the therapist for the repeated quick fix.
In order to provide as full a service as possible, and so that you can continue your recovery at home, items such as TENS machines, cliniband books and lumbar rolls are on loan (subject to availability)
SELF HELP:
A range of products are available for purchase from the clinic. They include TENS machines, TENS pads, books, lumbar rolls, orthopaedic pillows, microwaveable hot wraps ad re-usable ice packs. Advice will be given on the safe and effective use of all items sold
WHAT IF I HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE:
Southdown Physiotherapy Clinic is a treatment centre accepted by all Health Insurance Companies for physiotherapy treatment. Some Companies such as BUPA allow us to complete your claim form while others require a GP's signature. Simply contact your help line for information on how to proceed
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT:
Just phone or call in at the clinic. You will be offered the first available appointment. Every effort will be made to treat emergencies on the same day Allow approximately one hour for the first appointment and 30 minutes for follow-up appointments.
PAYMENT DETAILS:
If not covered by health insurance, payment is required after eac treatment. With health insurance the insurer will usually be billed directly
